Dental Implantology Center of Quebec - Whats sets us apart

What sets us apart

Our comprehensive approach

With Dr. Fortin’s surgical and prosthodontic expertise (crowns and bridges, implant-supported restorations) and his professional generosity, we are able to easily design an ideal or alternative treatment plan for our patients, and even anticipate the final result.

This allows us to work in partnership with a large number of dentists and to help them achieve optimal results by providing technical support from our exclusive team of highly experienced technicians, all at no extra cost to our patients.

Over 250 dentists refer their patients to the Centre. They either entrust Dr. Fortin with the entire treatment or they ask him to prepare the surgical and/or periodontal parts of the treatment while they take care of the prosthetic part. Dr. Fortin's 18 years of experience in dental implantology enable him to offer highly appreciated prosthodontic technical support to dentists.

Our exclusive, patented technique for the completely edentulous maxilla: the Marius Bridge

Our treatment approach is less invasive and less traumatic for patients, especially for those with an edentulous upper maxilla.

The exclusive approach that we have developed over the years is called the Marius Bridge. It has been the topic of several articles published in prestigious scientific journals and numerous presentations at international conferences. The Marius Bridge is also patent-protected.

The Marius Bridge that Dr. Fortin developed in 1992 involved a "home-made" prosthetic approach. However, it quickly evolved into a high precision, computerized (Cad-Cam) protocol. Since then, Dr. Fortin has made it accessible to all dentists and laboratories. The Marius Bridge allows patients who have lost a lot of lip support because of post-extraction bone loss to receive a fixed, detachable bridge that compensates for most of the inconveniences associated with this loss.

The Marius Bridge allows us to treat 95% of our patients with a completely edentulous upper maxilla without resorting to a bone graft and without compromising aesthetics, phonetics, maintenance, and comfort. To date, over 1,000 patients have been successfully treated using this technique.

Treatment planning

  • STEP 1. Consultation at the Centre d’implantologie Dentaire de Québec with Dr. Yvan Fortin. You will receive a free diagnosis and a complete treatment plan that you can present to your dentist, who will remain in close and constant contact with Dr. Fortin. The surgical plan is developed during this stage. In certain cases requiring only intervention in visible areas, we can install implants and attach temporary teeth to them. Thanks to Dr. Fortin’s expertise in implant surgery and is knowledge of restorations acquired over the years, there is virtually no pain, and complications are very rare. If you are not referred by a dentist, you can contact the Centre directly
  • STEP 2. The first surgical phase. Dr. Fortin will install your dental implants during this phase. With recent developments in implantology, we can replace one, several, or even all your teeth. Only in certain cases will it be necessary to proceed to a second surgical phase to ensure optimal results.
  • STEP 3. The prosthetic phase. In this phase, the restoration (for example, a crown, a bridge, a Marius Bridge, etc.) is placed on the osteointegrated implants.
  • STEP 4. Regular follow-up by your dentist. We recommend that you see your dentist every six months, just like people with natural teeth.
